KEN PRICE (1935-2012) Two Prints by the Artist Including: Frog Cup, lithograph in colors, on German etching paper, 1968, signed and dated in pencil on the reverse, numbered 2/20 (there were also three artist's proofs); together with Double Frog Cup, lithograph in colors, on Copperplate deluxe paper, 1968, signed and dated in pencil on the reverse, numbered 4/20 (there were also three artist's proofs), each published by Tamarind Lithography Workshop, Albuquerque, with their ink stamp on the reverse, framed Largest Sheet: 22 1 ⁄ 2 x 17 in. (572 x 432 mm.)
Auction result misses estimated price range
In November last year a collector was able to acquire the work Two Prints by the Artist by Kenneth Price for USD 1,008.00 (€ 976.46). This price was achieved in the auction A Graphic Century including French Impressions: Prints from Ambroise Vollard and Henri M. Petiet at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kenneth Price achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work M. Green in May this year with an auction result of USD 554,400.00 (€ 520,367.94).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im November letzten Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Two Prints by the Artist von Kenneth Price für USD 1.008,00 (€ 976,46) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion A Graphic Century including French Impressions: Prints from Ambroise Vollard and Henri M. Petiet bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kenneth Price erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit M. Green im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 554.400,00 (€ 520.367,94).
