Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Gruppenbildnis Edenbar (Group Portrait, Eden Bar) by Max Beckmann was auctioned at Christies in September 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 35,000.00 (€ 30,232.36). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Max Beckmann achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hölle der Vögel in June 2017 with an auction result of GBP 36,005,000.00 (€ 41,002,977.39).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Gruppenbildnis Edenbar (Group Portrait, Eden Bar) von Max Beckmann im September 2021 bei Christies versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 35.000,00 (€ 30.232,36) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Max Beckmann erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Hölle der Vögel im Juni 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 36.005.000,00 (€ 41.002.977,39).
