Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Suzanne and Philippe on the Train, Long Island, N.Y. by Nan Goldin was auctioned at Phillips in New York in December 2006. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,320.00 (€ 1,000.23) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nan Goldin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Thanksgiving in May 2002 with an auction result of USD 284,500.00 (€ 304,636.47).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Suzanne and Philippe on the Train, Long Island, N.Y. von Nan Goldin kam im Dezember 2006 bei Phillips in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.200,00 – 1.800,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.320,00 (€ 1.000,23) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Nan Goldin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Thanksgiving im Mai 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 284.500,00 (€ 304.636,47).
