Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Et il distingue une plaine aride et mamelonneuse, plate 7 from Tentation de Saint-Antoine by Odilon Redon was auctioned at Bonhams in January this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 300.00 – 500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 191.25 (€ 176.14). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Odilon Redon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Pavot Noir in October last year with an auction result of USD 3,780,000.00 (€ 3,805,113.75).
