Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Edition Olympia, Munich; Reech; Do-Re 3 by Victor Vasarely was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in June this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 832.00 (€ 761.90). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Victor Vasarely achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Altaï Iii in February 2010 with an auction result of GBP 565,250.00 (€ 630,588.93).
