Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Ai Weiwei achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in September 2021. In the Prints & Multiples auction, the work History of Bombs sold for GBP 1,764.00 (€ 2,052.44) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 600.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ai Weiwei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Circle of Animals / Zodiac Heads in June 2015 with an auction result of GBP 3,442,500.00 (€ 4,853,881.79).
