In November 2017 Christies in New York held the auction Post-War & Contemporary Art Morning Session, which included this untitled work by Alexander Calder. The »bidding war« ended at USD 168,750.00 (€ 141,830.56), 41% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alexander Calder achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Poisson volant (Flying Fish) in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 25,925,000.00 (€ 19,006,598.24).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 41 % übertroffen
Im November 2017 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Morning Session durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Alexander Calder zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 168.750,00 (€ 141.830,56) und damit 41% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alexander Calder erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Poisson volant (Flying Fish) im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 25.925.000,00 (€ 19.006.598,24).
