It achieved a price of GBP 77,500.00 (€ 91,042.54), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 29%. Admittedly, works by Arnulf Rainer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Schwarze Übermalung auf Braun in December 2020 with an auction result of EUR 750,000.00.

Die Arbeit Handmalerei (Hand Painting) von Arnulf Rainer kam im März 2021 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 77.500,00 (€ 91.042,54) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 29%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Arnulf Rainer auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Schwarze Übermalung auf Braun im Dezember 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 750.000,00.
