In February 2006 Christies in London held the auction Post-War and Contemporary Art Day sale, which included the work Nine Discourses of Commodus by Cy Twombly. The auction ended at the price of GBP 60,000.00 (€ 88,246.54), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cy Twombly achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (New York City) in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 70,530,000.00 (€ 66,777,125.54).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im Februar 2006 führte Christies in London die Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Day sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Nine Discourses of Commodus von Cy Twombly zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 60.000,00 (€ 88.246,54) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 40.000,00 – 60.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Cy Twombly erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (New York City) im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 70.530.000,00 (€ 66.777.125,54).
