DAZE (B. 1962) Pressure signed, titled and dated '"pressure BY CHRIS "DAZE" ELLIS 84' (on the reverse) spray enamel, acrylic, oil stick and paint marker on canvas 52 x 52 in. (132 x 137 cm.) Painted in 1984.
Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Pressure by DAZE was sold in the First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art auction at Christies in New York in December last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 10,080.00 (€ 9,422.32) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by DAZE - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in October 2019 for USD 25,000.00 (€ 22,411.47).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Pressure von DAZE wurde im Dezember letzten Jahres in der Auktion First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 10.080,00 (€ 9.422,32) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von DAZE mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit ohne Titel beobachtet, die im Oktober 2019 für USD 25.000,00 (€ 22.411,47) versteigert wurde.
