This artwork by Ernie Barnes achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March this year. In the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work The Back Room sold for GBP 226,800.00 (€ 258,028.81) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 100,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ernie Barnes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Sugar Shack in May last year with an auction result of USD 15,275,000.00 (€ 14,234,460.91).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Ernie Barnes erzielte im März diesen Jahres bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit The Back Room für GBP 226.800,00 (€ 258.028,81) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 100.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ernie Barnes erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Sugar Shack im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 15.275.000,00 (€ 14.234.460,91).
