In October 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction Important Prints & Multiples Day Sale, which included the work Strategy (Nesbett L94-4) by Jacob Lawrence. The »bidding war« ended at USD 6,930.00 (€ 5,950.03), 73% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacob Lawrence achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Businessmen in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 6,169,800.00 (€ 5,448,909.30).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 73 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Important Prints & Multiples Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Strategy (Nesbett L94-4) von Jacob Lawrence zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 6.930,00 (€ 5.950,03) und damit 73% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jacob Lawrence erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Businessmen im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 6.169.800,00 (€ 5.448.909,30).
