Auction result well in line with expectations
In January this year Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction Prints & Multiples, which included the work Billlingsgate by James Abbott McNeill Whistler. The price achieved of USD 1,020 (€ 910) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been given by the auction house as USD 800 - 1,200. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Abbott McNeill Whistler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Whistler Smoking in November last year with an auction result of USD 1,200,000 (€ 1,063,170).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in Los Angeles die Auktion Prints & Multiples durch, in der auch die Arbeit Billlingsgate von James Abbott McNeill Whistler zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 1.020 (€ 910) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 800 – 1.200 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Abbott McNeill Whistler erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Whistler Smoking im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.200.000 (€ 1.063.170).
