Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Prints & Multiples, which included the work La Vielle aux loques (Kennedy 21; Glasgow 41) by James Abbott McNeill Whistler. Here, the upper estimate of USD 1,000 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 1,008 (€ 891). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Abbott McNeill Whistler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Whistler Smoking in November last year with an auction result of USD 1,200,000 (€ 1,063,170).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Dezember letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Prints & Multiples durch, in der auch die Arbeit La Vielle aux loques (Kennedy 21; Glasgow 41) von James Abbott McNeill Whistler zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 1.000 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 1.008 (€ 891) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Abbott McNeill Whistler erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Whistler Smoking im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.200.000 (€ 1.063.170).
