In July last year Christies in New York held the auction Contemporary Edition, which included this untitled work by Jasper Johns. The »bidding war« ended at USD 4,410.00 (€ 4,322.68), 47% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jasper Johns achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Small False Start in November last year with an auction result of USD 55,350,000.00 (€ 53,618,134.26).

Im Juli letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Contemporary Edition durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Jasper Johns zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 4.410,00 (€ 4.322,68) und damit 47% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jasper Johns erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Small False Start im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 55.350.000,00 (€ 53.618.134,26).
