Artwork auctioned at seven times the upper estimate price
When the work Le Tigre by Jordy Kerwick was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March last year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 35,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than seven times as high at USD 277,200.00 (€ 249,887.32). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jordy Kerwick; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Chic Imagery sold at auction in May last year with the realized price of HKD 2,142,000.00 (€ 254,301.37).
Kunstwerk zum Siebenfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Le Tigre von Jordy Kerwick im März letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 35.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 277.200,00 (€ 249.887,32) mehr als siebenmal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Jordy Kerwick; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Chic Imagery im Mai letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 2.142.000,00 (€ 254.301,37).
