Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2017 Christies in New York held the auction First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art, which included the work Male Nude Lying Knee Up On Elbow by Julian Opie. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 22,500.00 (€ 18,715.69) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Julian Opie achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Walking in London in the rain in June last year with an auction result of CHF 189,000.00 (€ 189,036.11).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2017 führte Christies in New York die Auktion First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Male Nude Lying Knee Up On Elbow von Julian Opie zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 22.500,00 (€ 18.715,69) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Julian Opie erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Walking in London in the rain im Juni letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von CHF 189.000,00 (€ 189.036,11).
