Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Day: An Online Auction, which included the work The Car by Lorna Simpson. The price achieved of USD 50,000.00 (€ 45,053.16) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Admittedly, works by Lorna Simpson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Day For Night in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 375,000.00 (€ 321,336.76).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art Day: An Online Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Car von Lorna Simpson zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 45.053,16) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Lorna Simpson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Day For Night im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 375.000,00 (€ 321.336,76).
