In April this year Christies in New York held the auction Prints and Multiples, which included the work Other World by Maurits Cornelis Escher. The »bidding war« ended at USD 37,800.00 (€ 34,239.13), 26% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maurits Cornelis Escher achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Reptiles (Bool 327) in April last year with an auction result of USD 756,000.00 (€ 717,471.77).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 26 % übertroffen
Im April diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Prints and Multiples durch, in der auch die Arbeit Other World von Maurits Cornelis Escher zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 37.800,00 (€ 34.239,13) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Maurits Cornelis Escher erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Reptiles (Bool 327) im April letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 756.000,00 (€ 717.471,77).
