Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Adventures of 'Wichita' the Rat Dancer by Robert Crumb was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 18,750.00 (€ 16,838.80). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Crumb achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Vulture Goddess in November 2014 with an auction result of USD 221,000.00 (€ 177,681.30).
