Upper estimate price exceeded by 76 %.
This artwork by Robert Rauschenberg achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in June last year. In the Editions Southampton auction, the work Opal Gospel sold for USD 8,820.00 (€ 8,424.87) - well above the upper estimate of USD 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Rauschenberg achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Buffalo Ii in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 88,805,000.00 (€ 79,652,883.67).
