Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May this year Bonhams held the auction Prints & Photographs | Bonhams Skinner, which included the work Jean Cocteau with Mask of Antigone by Berenice Abbott. The »bidding war« ended at USD 1,402.50 (€ 1,316.41), 17% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Berenice Abbott achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work New York At Night, 1932 in October 2013 with an auction result of USD 87,500.00 (€ 64,366.63).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai diesen Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion Prints & Photographs | Bonhams Skinner durch, in der auch die Arbeit Jean Cocteau with Mask of Antigone von Berenice Abbott zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 1.402,50 (€ 1.316,41) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Berenice Abbott erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit New York At Night, 1932 im Oktober 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 87.500,00 (€ 64.366,63).
