Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work (I) Organised Freedom 12 (Ii) Organised Freedom 19 by Esko Männikkö was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,729.93). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Esko Männikkö - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work (I-Ii) Kuivaniemi (Iii-Iv) Savukoski, which sold at auction in June 2001 for GBP 10,575.00 (€ 17,567.18).
