It achieved a price of GBP 50,400.00 (€ 57,873.20), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 44%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gerhard Richter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Abstraktes Bild in February 2015 with an auction result of GBP 30,389,000.00 (€ 41,901,917.57).

Die Arbeit 20.2.98 von Gerhard Richter wurde im Oktober diesen Jahres in der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale bei Christies in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 50.400,00 (€ 57.873,20) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 44%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gerhard Richter erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Abstraktes Bild im Februar 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 30.389.000,00 (€ 41.901.917,57).
