Thorndike/ cordialement/ Henri Matisse, inscribed Etat, one of two épreuves d'état aside from the edition of fifty (there were also five épreuves d'essai and ten épreuves d'artiste), probably the full sheet, the paper toned, some pale scattered foxing, hinged with paper tape along the sheet edges recto, framed

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Nu au coussin bleu by Henri Matisse was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2017. The price achieved of GBP 31,250.00 (€ 36,621.92) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henri Matisse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Odalisque couchée aux magnolias in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 80,750,000.00 (€ 69,194,515.85).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Nu au coussin bleu von Henri Matisse kam im März 2017 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 31.250,00 (€ 36.621,92) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Henri Matisse erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Odalisque couchée aux magnolias im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 80.750.000,00 (€ 69.194.515,85).
