Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2014 Sothebys in London held the auction Contemporary Art Day Auction, which included the work Blockage (Yellow): With Person (Black) And Hippopotami (Blue And Red) by John Baldessari. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 120,000.00 – 180,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 134,500.00 (€ 169,646.79) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Baldessari achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Commissioned Painting: A Painting By Edgar Transue in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 2,517,000.00 (€ 1,845,307.92).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2014 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Blockage (Yellow): With Person (Black) And Hippopotami (Blue And Red) von John Baldessari zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 120.000,00 – 180.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 134.500,00 (€ 169.646,79) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Baldessari erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Commissioned Painting: A Painting By Edgar Transue im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.517.000,00 (€ 1.845.307,92).
