Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Tom Wesselmann achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in March last year. In the Modern & Contemporary Day Auction auction, the work Embossed Nude #1 sold for GBP 52,920.00 (€ 62,742.62) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Tom Wesselmann achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Great American Nude No. 48 in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 10,681,000.00 (€ 6,864,395.89).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Tom Wesselmann erzielte im März letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern & Contemporary Day Auction wurde die Arbeit Embossed Nude #1 für GBP 52.920,00 (€ 62.742,62) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 20.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Tom Wesselmann erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Great American Nude No. 48 im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 10.681.000,00 (€ 6.864.395,89).
