Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Smoker Sculpture by Tom Wesselmann was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2014. The price achieved of USD 60,000.00 (€ 43,988.27) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Tom Wesselmann achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Great American Nude No. 48 in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 10,681,000.00 (€ 6,864,395.89).
