Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2021 Christies held the auction Post-War to Present, which included the work Smoker Study #24 by Tom Wesselmann. It changed hands for a price of USD 237,500.00 (€ 205,592.11) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 180,000.00 – 250,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Tom Wesselmann achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Great American Nude No. 48 in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 10,681,000.00 (€ 6,864,395.89).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2021 führte Christies die Auktion Post-War to Present durch, in der auch die Arbeit Smoker Study #24 von Tom Wesselmann zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 237.500,00 (€ 205.592,11) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 180.000,00 – 250.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Tom Wesselmann erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Great American Nude No. 48 im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 10.681.000,00 (€ 6.864.395,89).
