the set of ten screenprints in colors, on Beckett High White paper, 1972, each signed in ball-point pen on the reverse, eight stamp-numbered 215/250 and two stamp-numbered 'A.P. 44/50’, published by Castelli Graphics and Multiples, Inc., New York, with the artist's copyright inkstamp on the reverse, each the full sheet, (F. & S. II.91) measuring 36 x 35.15/16 in.; (F. & S. II.94) measuring 35.15/16 x 35.15/16 in., generally in very good condition

Auction result misses estimated price range

In October 2015 a collector was able to acquire the work Mao by Andy Warhol for USD 593,000.00 (€ 537,040.39). This price was achieved in the auction Prints & Multiples at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 600,000.00 – 800,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andy Warhol achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shot Sage Blue Marilyn in May last year with an auction result of USD 195,040,000.00 (€ 181,753,797.41).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Im Oktober 2015 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Mao von Andy Warhol für USD 593.000,00 (€ 537.040,39) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Prints & Multiples bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 600.000,00 – 800.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Andy Warhol erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Shot Sage Blue Marilyn im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 195.040.000,00 (€ 181.753.797,41).
