Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Petite Flore nue by Aristide Maillol was auctioned at Phillips in New York in November 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 75,600.00 (€ 66,979.71). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Aristide Maillol achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La Riviere, 1938-1943 in December 2013 with an auction result of EUR 6,033,500.00.
