Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait of a man in profile to the left, bust-length, carrying a tricorn hat by Augustin de Saint-Aubin was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2003, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 470.00 (€ 665.69). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Augustin de Saint-Aubin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The 'Valide', The Sultan'S Mother in January 2012 with an auction result of USD 25,000.00 (€ 19,152.69).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Portrait of a man in profile to the left, bust-length, carrying a tricorn hat von Augustin de Saint-Aubin im Dezember 2003 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 500,00 – 700,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 470,00 (€ 665,69) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Augustin de Saint-Aubin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The 'Valide', The Sultan'S Mother im Januar 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 25.000,00 (€ 19.152,69).
