Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Wallflower 5, from Wallflowers Suite by Donald Sultan was sold in the Prints & Multiples auction at Bonhams in March this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,530.00 (€ 1,407.28) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Donald Sultan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Battery May 5, 1986 in February 2019 with an auction result of USD 87,500.00 (€ 76,896.04).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Wallflower 5, from Wallflowers Suite von Donald Sultan wurde im März diesen Jahres in der Auktion Prints & Multiples bei Bonhams versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.530,00 (€ 1.407,28) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Donald Sultan erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Battery May 5, 1986 im Februar 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 87.500,00 (€ 76.896,04).
