Description
FRANK STELLA (B. 1936) Quathlamba II, from V Series lithograph in colors with varnish, on Lowell paper, 1968, signed and dated in pencil, numbered 34/100 (there were also sixteen artist's proofs), published by Gemini G.E.L., Los Angeles, with their blindstamps and ink stamp on the reverse, framed Sheet: 16 x 28 5 ⁄ 8 in. (406 x 650 mm.)
Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Quathlamba II, from V Series by Frank Stella was auctioned at Christies in July this year. Here, the upper estimate of USD 5,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 5,670.00 (€ 5,145.19). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frank Stella achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Point Of Pines in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 28,082,500.00 (€ 25,188,357.70).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Quathlamba II, from V Series von Frank Stella kam im Juli diesen Jahres bei Christies zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 5.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 5.670,00 (€ 5.145,19) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Frank Stella erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Point Of Pines im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 28.082.500,00 (€ 25.188.357,70).
