This artwork by Helen Frankenthaler achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in May last year. In the Contemporary Day Auction auction, the work Yellow Canyon sold for USD 2,712,000.00 (€ 2,527,257.48) - well above the upper estimate of USD 1,500,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Helen Frankenthaler - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Royal Fireworks, which sold at auction in June 2020 for USD 7,895,300.00 (€ 7,029,917.19).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Helen Frankenthaler erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Day Auction wurde die Arbeit Yellow Canyon für USD 2.712.000,00 (€ 2.527.257,48) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 1.500.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Helen Frankenthaler mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Royal Fireworks beobachtet, die im Juni 2020 für USD 7.895.300,00 (€ 7.029.917,19) versteigert wurde.
