Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Riva, No. 2, from the Second Venice Set by James Abbott McNeill Whistler was auctioned at Bonhams in March this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 5,100.00 (€ 4,690.95) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Abbott McNeill Whistler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Whistler Smoking in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,200,000.00 (€ 1,063,170.02).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Riva, No. 2, from the Second Venice Set von James Abbott McNeill Whistler kam im März diesen Jahres bei Bonhams zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 5.100,00 (€ 4.690,95) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Abbott McNeill Whistler erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Whistler Smoking im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.200.000,00 (€ 1.063.170,02).
