JASPER JOHNS (B. 1930) Figure 6, from Black Numeral Series lithograph, on Copperplate Deluxe paper, 1968, signed and dated in pencil, numbered 69/70 (there were also ten artist's proofs), published by Gemini G.E.L., Los Angeles, with their blindstamps and ink stamp on the reverse, with full margins, framed Image: 27 1 ⁄ 2 x 21 1 ⁄ 4 in. (700 x 540 mm.) Sheet: 37 x 30 in. (940 x 762 mm.)
Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Figure 6, from Black Numeral Series by Jasper Johns was auctioned at Christies in July this year. Here, the upper estimate of USD 7,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 7,560.00 (€ 6,860.25). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jasper Johns achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Small False Start in November last year with an auction result of USD 55,350,000.00 (€ 53,618,134.26).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Figure 6, from Black Numeral Series von Jasper Johns kam im Juli diesen Jahres bei Christies zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 7.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 7.560,00 (€ 6.860,25) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jasper Johns erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Small False Start im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 55.350.000,00 (€ 53.618.134,26).
