JOHN BALDESSARI (1930-2020) Throwing Three Balls in the Air to get a Straight Line (Best of Thirty-Six Attempts) the complete set of twelve offset lithographs in colors, on coated stock paper, 1973, from the edition of 2000, co-published by Giampaolo Prearo and Galleria Toselli, Milan, each with full margins, in good condition, together with the justification page and the original blue fabric-covered publisher's box with blue letter-press paper slipcase, framed Each Image: 7 x 10 1 ⁄ 4 in. (178 x 260 mm.) Each Sheet: 9 5 ⁄ 8 x 12 3 ⁄ 4 in. (245 x 324 mm.)
Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Baldessari could be acquired at Christies in July this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Contemporary Edition auction, the work Throwing Three Balls in the Air to get a Straight Line (Best of Thirty-Six Attempts) changed hands for USD 4,410.00 (€ 4,001.81) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Baldessari achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Commissioned Painting: A Painting By Edgar Transue in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 2,517,000.00 (€ 1,845,307.92).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

In der Auktion Contemporary Edition wechselte die Arbeit Throwing Three Balls in the Air to get a Straight Line (Best of Thirty-Six Attempts) für USD 4.410,00 (€ 4.001,81) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Baldessari erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Commissioned Painting: A Painting By Edgar Transue im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.517.000,00 (€ 1.845.307,92).
