Auction result well in line with expectations

In March 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Prints & Multiples, which included the work The Musicians (New Hollstein 155) by Lucas van Leyden. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,250.00 (€ 2,540.71) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lucas van Leyden achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Virgin and Child with two Angels in January 2019 with an auction result of USD 52,500.00 (€ 45,835.52).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Im März 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Prints & Multiples durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Musicians (New Hollstein 155) von Lucas van Leyden zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 2.250,00 (€ 2.540,71) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lucas van Leyden erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Virgin and Child with two Angels im Januar 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 52.500,00 (€ 45.835,52).
