In September last year Christies in New York held the auction Post-War to Present, which included the work Winner A by Magdalena Abakanowicz. The »bidding war« ended at USD 94,500.00 (€ 96,596.14), 35% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Magdalena Abakanowicz have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Flock (12 Standing Figures, from 'Ragazzi' Cycle) in November 2017 with an auction result of USD 480,500.00 (€ 403,849.39).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 35 % übertroffen
Im September letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post-War to Present durch, in der auch die Arbeit Winner A von Magdalena Abakanowicz zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 94.500,00 (€ 96.596,14) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Magdalena Abakanowicz auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Flock (12 Standing Figures, from 'Ragazzi' Cycle) im November 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 480.500,00 (€ 403.849,39).
