Description
SOL LEWITT (1928-2007) Plate #01, from Two Asymmetrical Pyramids screenprint in colors, on Arches Cover paper, 1986, signed in pencil, numbered 'pp 1/2' (a printer's proof, the edition was 20 plus five artist's proofs), published by Multiples Inc., New York, the full sheet, in very good condition, framed Sheet: 38 x 62 in. (965 x 1575 mm.)
Auction result well in line with expectations
In July this year Christies held the auction Contemporary Edition, which included the work Plate #01, from Two Asymmetrical Pyramids by Sol LeWitt. The price achieved of USD 4,032.00 (€ 3,658.80) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sol LeWitt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Wavy Brushstrokes in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 449,000.00 (€ 636,531.19).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli diesen Jahres führte Christies die Auktion Contemporary Edition durch, in der auch die Arbeit Plate #01, from Two Asymmetrical Pyramids von Sol LeWitt zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 4.032,00 (€ 3.658,80) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sol LeWitt erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Wavy Brushstrokes im Juli 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 449.000,00 (€ 636.531,19).
