Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Location of Six Geometric Figures (Circle, Square, Triangle, Rectangle, Parallelogram and Trapezoid) by Sol LeWitt was sold in the Contemporary Edition auction at Christies in July this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,000.00 – 4,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,016.00 (€ 1,829.40) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sol LeWitt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Wavy Brushstrokes in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 449,000.00 (€ 636,531.19).
