Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Deux Illustrations Pour Le Comte de Monte Christo Par Alexandre Dumas : Morel Fils En Hussard Dans Un Paysage; Et Morel Père Debout Dans Un Paysage by Paul Gavarni was auctioned at Christies in Paris in June 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 500.00 – 700.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 300.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paul Gavarni achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work „Est-ce qu’on n’est plus le petit n’homme à sa biche?“ in June 2010 with an auction result of EUR 4,750.00.

Als die Arbeit Deux Illustrations Pour Le Comte de Monte Christo Par Alexandre Dumas : Morel Fils En Hussard Dans Un Paysage; Et Morel Père Debout Dans Un Paysage von Paul Gavarni im Juni 2005 bei Christies in Paris versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 500,00 – 700,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 300,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Paul Gavarni erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit „Est-ce qu’on n’est plus le petit n’homme à sa biche?“ im Juni 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 4.750,00.
