Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Album Portfolio 9 by Terry Winters was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in March last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,825.00 (€ 3,448.12). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Terry Winters achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Graphic Primitives 1 in May 2007 with an auction result of USD 240,000.00 (€ 178,398.87).
