It achieved a price of USD 218,500.00 (€ 167,612.76), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 46%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Yayoi Kusama achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pumpkin in April this year with an auction result of HKD 30,000,000.00 (€ 30,635,869.57).

Die Arbeit Dots Obsession von Yayoi Kusama wurde im November 2010 in der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Morning Session bei Christies in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 218.500,00 (€ 167.612,76) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 46%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Yayoi Kusama erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Pumpkin im April diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 30.000.000,00 (€ 30.635.869,57).
