Auction result misses estimated price range
In July this year a collector was able to acquire the work Frozen Leopard by Alex Katz for USD 1,890.00 (€ 1,715.06). This price was achieved in the auction Contemporary Edition at Christies and was even below the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alex Katz achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Blue Umbrella I in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 3,375,000.00 (€ 3,914,757.96).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Juli diesen Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Frozen Leopard von Alex Katz für USD 1.890,00 (€ 1.715,06) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Contemporary Edition bei Christies erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alex Katz erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Blue Umbrella I im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.375.000,00 (€ 3.914.757,96).
