Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Study for Bird by Alex Katz was auctioned at Phillips in New York in May this year. It achieved a price of USD 40,640.00 (€ 38,145.30), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 16%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alex Katz achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Blue Umbrella I in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 3,375,000.00 (€ 3,914,757.96).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Study for Bird von Alex Katz kam im Mai diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 40.640,00 (€ 38.145,30) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 16%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alex Katz erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Blue Umbrella I im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.375.000,00 (€ 3.914.757,96).
