In June this year Phillips in New York held the auction Editions & Works on Paper, which included the work Taches de rousseur (Freckles), from La Mémoire élémentaire by Alexander Calder. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,890.00 (€ 8,141.03), 48% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alexander Calder achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Poisson volant (Flying Fish) in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 25,925,000.00 (€ 19,006,598.24).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 48 % übertroffen
Im Juni diesen Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Editions & Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit Taches de rousseur (Freckles), from La Mémoire élémentaire von Alexander Calder zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 8.890,00 (€ 8.141,03) und damit 48% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alexander Calder erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Poisson volant (Flying Fish) im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 25.925.000,00 (€ 19.006.598,24).
