Upper estimate price exceeded by 26%
In September this year Christies in New York held the auction Post-War to Present, which included the work The Gates (Project for Central Park, New York City) by Christo. The »bidding war« ended at USD 151,200 (€ 154,554), 26% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Christo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Umbrellas (Joint project for Japan and USA) in February last year with an auction result of EUR 1,706,500.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 26% übertroffen
Im September diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post-War to Present durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Gates (Project for Central Park, New York City) von Christo zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 151.200 (€ 154.554) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Christo erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Umbrellas (Joint project for Japan and USA) im Februar letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 1.706.500.
