In May this year Phillips in New York held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session, which included the work Valley Curtain (Project for Colorado) Grand Hogback, 7 Miles North from Rifle by Christo. The »bidding war« ended at USD 107,950.00 (€ 101,323.45), 35% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Christo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Umbrellas (Joint project for Japan and USA) in February 2021 with an auction result of EUR 1,706,500.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 35 % übertroffen
Im Mai diesen Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session durch, in der auch die Arbeit Valley Curtain (Project for Colorado) Grand Hogback, 7 Miles North from Rifle von Christo zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 107.950,00 (€ 101.323,45) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Christo erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Umbrellas (Joint project for Japan and USA) im Februar 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 1.706.500,00.
